I can't believe we're going to be able to do this. We traveled a long way, true, but to just stomp right across this tiny Nentir Vale and unleash this beast on the world? We're going to scar the face of the world, and we might just end it as we know it. We're going to plunge this part of the world into chaos for generations at least. And the people here are so weak, they can do nothing to stop it. Even the mighty Sarwin mage castle of legend is only slowing us down a bit.
They call them "gods" but if they're so powerful, why did one of them get imprisoned here by 'mere mortals' for hundreds of years or more? I'm sure once we unleash him, he'll do massive damage across the countryside and demolish all these little cities, but still.. And why do the other "gods" have to work through us? Why not just come here and free their friend themselves? We are their power. Without us, what can they do?
I'm not sure I understand completely, this scheme seems complex and convoluted. So… 'Vecna' has tricked the Pelor zealot into believing that Vecna is the sun god, in order to get funding and support to put this organization together. Bribing achieved, 'Asmodeus' or 'Bane' or whoever is now hatching an elaborate plot, through us, to free some sort of god that almost made it through to our world and ended it, but was stopped or trapped or something by spirits. So all these 'gods' are working together on this plot, two evil ones to free a trapped one, but still - without us, they're all nothing.
And the reward we're promised? Immortality? What in the hells does that mean, exactly?
You know how Clenderi and Lzierabel put their resources together and helped Tiboquoboc take over the girl, Arezi Sarwin? Put his soul right into the girl's body, with that new magic the witch got? I bet that's what they mean by immortality. Just putting our souls into someone or something else that will live longer or forever. Well I don't know about you, but I don't want to be like the dead men that walk (like that foul Zorkulak), or like that metal man Bul. Being immortal sounds great, but I like being flesh and blood too. I can't get a straight answer out of anyone about this. Do you know? Besides that, they could just double cross us completely..
That first night.. three nights ago.. when we arrived. The amazing power we represent with our forces combined.. Sure, we had to use Tiboquoboc in the little girl's body, Arezi Sarwin, to lure the Sarwin family out of the castle. Sure we used that one little trick. The way you looked! A giant green dragon looking like he's eating their own long-lost daughter right in front of their castle! Their faces! But the Sarwins were the most powerful mages in the vale. And we killed the whole damn family in minutes! Then we devastated the entire TOWN of Nenlast in an hour! Sure, we've been running into trouble in the castle getting through these spirit creatures of the castle's magical defenses. Alraugh has a lot more orcs in the vicinity though, and can call for reinforcements in a few weeks.
When I think about it, that makes Tiboquoboc the only remaining "Sarwin." I mean, is the girl still inside there somewhere, trapped with his soul? Does Tiboquoboc plan on portraying himself as a human after this? And when I think about it.. does "Asmodeus" have other 'human' agents that are secretly possessed using this new magic by other souls? How deep and widespread are these plans?
Anyway, I'm glad we're friends, Alorzulan. With me and you (and your fearsome half-dragon progeny) in a secret alliance, things will turn out fine for us regardless of what happens with this horrid little vale and these other fools. I've been thinking, maybe we can entice Amiryll to join us after we loot this castle, and we can all head south or east and take over Scuttlecove or Sasserine. What do you think? Let us entice her, that should be new for her - the seductress seduced.
That reminds me of old games I used to play. I spent many years travelling the lands around the Iron Circle and Sasserine, have I told you? I used to woo rich aristocratic women. After some time, I'd 'get caught' and lure their husbands into duels. Then I'd kill the husband, and later privately reveal my true form to the women I'd wooed. Oh how they'd squeal and tear at their hair! I've left so many dead men and insane women in my path, I bet I could give Amiryll a run for her money.
That's all for now. I'll see you tomorrow - hold down the fort.
